I Tried to Improve This Website. It went poorly.

Oh hey, been a while since I made a post here, huh? Well there's a lot of reasons for that, but the one I actually want to talk about is the ways in which I've tried to improve the production of this website, only for it to fall flat every time.

For instance, a little while back, I tried to use some tools to make an automatic form of the RSS feed for these journals, just because I find updating it manually tedious and it leads to the feed looking really bad. Of course... I don't even know if anyone besides me is even subscribed to my RSS feed, but it felt worth doing, y'know? Problem was, it, uh... took a lot of steps and didn't work.

So, to evern attempt this, I had to go and get VSCode, which was the easy part and actually probably something I should try to use more, but then I had to use 11ty. This is where things go sideways. No matter what I did to follow the guide I had found, the feed text file did not work, never updating on its own. I tried several times over a few days, but I eventually gave up.

So, I still had VSCode on my PC, and one of the big things about 11ty was website templates. Currently, the way I make a new page for this site is to copy and paste some starting text. The thing that 11ty advertises is basically just doing that for me, so I figured sure, why not? As is the theme of this entry... it didn't work, and actually broke a couple things when I tried. However, there was one last thing I attempted to do to improve the updates to this site.

If you follow this site, you may have seen a day or two where a bunch of the website just up and broke. Yeah, that was me attampting to push an update to this site directly from VSCode. It deleted all the Pictures folder files and a few other files for... some reason. After that, I have to say I felt deflated, which is a big reason why there haven't been many big updates here. I have had the itch to get back to this recently, so we'll see what I do now. It'll be something to come up with more journal entries, so who know? Not me!
